Changes to Credit Card Surcharge Refund Policy

QUINCY, ILLINOIS – APRIL 1, 2023. Mad Scientist Technologies, a leading IT Consulting company, announces a change to its credit card surcharge refund policy, effective April 1, 2023. As of this date, customers who make payments using a credit or debit card will no longer receive a refund of the credit card surcharge fee on refunded transactions. This policy change is a result of recent updates to the refund policies of our payment providers – Square/Block, Stripe, and PayPal.

The decision to no longer refund credit card surcharge fees on refunded transactions was made after careful consideration of the updated policies of our payment providers. Square, Stripe, and PayPal have all made changes to their policies, which now prevent merchants from refunding credit card surcharge fees on transactions that are subsequently refunded. As a result, we are aligning our policy with theirs to ensure consistency and compliance with their terms of service.

We understand that this change may impact some of our valued customers, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We value our customers and strive to provide excellent service at all times. However, we are committed to complying with the policies of our payment providers and ensuring that our business practices are in line with industry standards.

We would like to assure our customers that we will continue to accept credit and debit card payments without any changes to our existing surcharge policy for non-refunded transactions. This policy change only applies to credit card surcharge fee refunds on transactions that are subsequently refunded.
